Tai Chi

Tai Chi, also known as T'ai chi ch'uan or Taijiquan,  is a Chinese martial art with a sequence of movements performed slowly as a meditative exercise for the body. These movements help circulate the body's energy, and thus strengthen the immune system and reduce stress.  Some have said that it improves the memory and produces other health benefits.

This class has helped the women at CME get stronger physically, has improved their balance and flexibility, and has taught them self defense basics. The form movements are repetitive for the right and left brain hemispheres, and this can help improve the memory. As a result of this class, the women feel relaxed, refreshed, and some say they even feel younger and more energetic!

The TaiChi class is offered at Centro Mujeres de la Esperanza once a week and the class lasts one and a half hours to two hours.
